Cryptosporidium and Giardia are now recognised as important enteric eukaryotic parasites, and recent epidemiological studies have implicated them as among the most numerically important causes of childhood moderate and severe diarrhoea globally. Here we are performing a pilot sequencing diverse isolates from both groups. The aim is to study the efficency of sequencing directly from spores isolated from faecal samples and to establish how well reads from different species/assemblages map to the available high-quality reference genomes (for C. parvum, C. hominis, and three Giardia duodenalis assemblages), and whether SNPs can be reliably called across most of the genome. This data is part of a pre-publication release. For information on the proper use of pre-publication data shared by the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute (including details of any publication moratoria), please see http://www.sanger.ac.uk/datasharing/
