While brightness is commonly used as an X-ray source figure of merit, it is not appropriate for many applications. Usable X-ray flux, restricted via application-specific etendue and energy spread, is a superior figure of merit. We present a methodology and software for calculating the usable X-ray flux for an application.

尽管亮度(brightness)常被用作X射线光源的品质因数,但在诸多实际应用中其并不适用。相较而言,经特定应用的集光率(étendue)与能量展宽约束后的可用X射线通量,是更为优异的品质因数。我们提出了一种可针对具体应用计算可用X射线通量的方法与软件工具。
