Genetic background affects gene-environment and gene-drug interactions. We compared using the auxotrophic YKO collection as a benchmark, two prototrophic deletion collections created using different methods (backcrossing vs plasmid complementation). We found collection-specific and condition-specific biology and caution users to carefully consider the advantages and disadvantages of each collection for each biological question of interest.

遗传背景可影响基因-环境互作与基因-药物互作。本研究以营养缺陷型YKO敲除菌株集为基准,对比了两种分别通过回交法与质粒互补法构建的原养型敲除菌株集。研究发现了菌株集特异性与条件特异性的生物学特征,并提醒使用者需针对各自关注的生物学问题,审慎考量每种菌株集的优劣。
