Marine n-3 PUFAs have been suggested to prevent the development of metabolic disorders. However, their individual role in treating hyperglyciemia and the mechanism of action regarding gut microbiome and metabolome in the context of obesity/diabetes remain unclear. We aimed to assess the effects of DHA and EPA on gut microbiota in obese/diabetic mice. Our results offer new insights into the gut microbiota-organs axis as a suitable target for treating metabolic perturbations and also suggests marine n-3 PUFAs may be a efficient therapeutic dietary supplement for obese/diabetic patients.
