Stroke is frequently associated with cardiac troponin increase and cardiac complications. 24h and 72h after experimental ischemic stroke of the brain, we harvested the heart to investigate pathways and target genes, involved in cardiac dysfunction after acute ischemic stroke We induced ischemic stroke (middle carebral artery occlusion) in wildtype animals. After 24 and 72 hours, we sacrificed the animals and isolated the cardiac RNA for expression analysis. For both timepoints, we generated and analyzed sham operated control animals.
