Genome sequencing of probiotic Escherichia coli G8. Escherichia coli strain:G8

Some Escherichia coli strains have been shown to provide beneficial effects on human and animal health. Six of those strains are contained in the probiotic drug Symbioflor2, provided by SymbioPharm (Herborn-Hörbach, Germany). While these product is used in humans for decades without severve side effects and in this way considered as safe it is an essential step to ensure complete safety by evaluating their whole genomic content. In this context, the genome of the probiotic Escherichia coli G8 is presented here in draft form.

已有研究证实，部分大肠杆菌（Escherichia coli）菌株可对人类及动物的健康发挥有益作用。其中六株菌株被纳入SymbioPharm（德国赫本-霍巴赫）研发的益生菌药物Symbioflor2中。尽管该药物已在人类临床应用数十年，未报告严重不良反应，故被认为安全性良好，但通过解析其全基因组序列以全面验证安全性仍是不可或缺的步骤。在此背景下，本文公布了益生菌大肠杆菌G8的草图基因组序列。
