Retrospective benefit estimation of motorcycle ABSs based on Swiss insurance data

With the growing use of motorcycle antilock braking systems (ABSs) in the European market in recent years, we would expect to see a noticeable reduction in the number of motorcycle crashes. Several studies have proved a crash-reducing effect of motorcycle ABSs. The objective of this survey is to expand former studies by analyzing Swiss insurance data to derive estimates about the effect of motorcycle ABSs in Europe.
Swiss insurance data are analyzed descriptively, and based on these data, regression models are estimated to determine the effect of motorcycle ABSs retrospectively.
Motorcycles equipped with standard ABSs were associated with an 18% reduction in claim frequency compared to motorcycles without ABSs, based on Swiss liability insurance data.
These numbers are in line with the results of other studies estimating the benefit of motorcycle ABSs. This study updates and adds to previous European studies by using insurance data.

近年来，摩托车防抱死制动系统（Antilock Braking Systems, ABSs）在欧洲市场的应用愈发普及，行业普遍预期摩托车碰撞事故数量将出现显著下降。多项研究已证实摩托车防抱死制动系统可有效降低碰撞事故发生率。本次调研旨在拓展既往研究的边界，通过分析瑞士保险数据，估算欧洲地区摩托车防抱死制动系统的实际应用效果。
本研究对瑞士保险数据进行描述性分析，并基于该数据集构建回归模型，以回顾性方式评估摩托车防抱死制动系统的影响。
基于瑞士责任险数据，配备标准防抱死制动系统的摩托车，其索赔频次较未配备该系统的摩托车降低18%。
该研究结果与其他评估摩托车防抱死制动系统收益的同类研究结论相符。本次研究通过采用保险数据，更新并补充了此前欧洲地区的相关研究成果。
