This dataset hosts data supporting the analysis performed in the article titled "The 2009-2010 extreme drought effect on Carbon Sink in Southwest China, a land surface modeling perspective". This dataset includes data and code supporting the results section and supplementary figures in this paper. The code was written using NCAR Command Language (NCL), developed by the Computational and Information Systems Lab at the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR). Links and instructions for model and analysis tools are provided below: NCL: Developed by the Computational and Information Systems Lab at the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR), available at https://github.com/NCAR/ncl CLM5: https://github.com/ESCOMP/cesm We used the China Meteorological Forcing Dataset (CMFD, https://doi.org/10.11888/Meteoro.tpdc.270961) to drive model simulations. We run the spinup simulation using 2000 to 2016 atmospheric forcing and cycled for 40 times (a total of 680 years) to reach the steady state. The time step of the simulation is 30s, and we analyzed monthly outputs. The spatial resolution was 0.1°×0.1°. The files included in this dataset are described below: Changes in NEE and the recovery time.zip: This file is used to study changes in carbon sinks during drought periods and their recovery time. CLM-simulated carbon flux values.zip: This file contains the CLM5.0 simulation results for carbon flux. General mapping code and files.zip: This file contains supporting materials required for plotting. Precipitation and temperature data.zip: This file contains the precipitation and temperature data used in the paper. Sensitivity of NEE in Southwest China to Extreme Drought.zip: This file contains the calculated sensitivity of carbon sinks to drought, including carbon sink losses under different precipitation and temperature conditions in negative sensitivity areas. Validation data.zip: This file contains processed data used to validate the simulation results of CLM5.0.
