This assembly is an update of GCA_021218885.2 with de novo sequencing performed by Dovetail Genomics using their HiRise/OmniC technology. The goal was to get closer to a chromosome-level assembly to assist in copy number alteration detection in cancer, considering the woodchuck is a model for viral induced cancer development.

本基因组组装为GCA_021218885.2版本的更新产物，由多泰尔基因组学（Dovetail Genomics）采用其HiRise/OmniC技术完成从头测序（de novo sequencing）构建。鉴于美洲旱獭（woodchuck）是病毒诱导癌症发生的模式生物，本次组装的目标是获得更趋近于染色体级别的基因组组装结果，以辅助癌症研究中的拷贝数变异（copy number alteration）检测工作。
