Pan trap dataset , week 4 lab

In this experiment, we used coloured- plastic bowls to make pan trap and there were 3 different colours used as blue, yellow and white. In each location which were woodlot and grassland, we placed 9 plastic bowls with alternating colour (blue, yellow, white) and each plastic bowl was 3 meter away from each other. These plastic bowls were half-filled with soapy water in order to prevent captured insects from escaping out of pan trap. After one hour, we came back to the experiment site and counted the total number of insect captured in each bowl and then drained off soapy water and released those insects. We identified the number of different insect species in each bowl and then figured the name of each insect species after lab period. The woodlot and grassland were at York University, Keele campus. The experiment was done on September 29, 2014 from 3pm to 4 pm. The weather was clear, sunny and the temperature was around 24 Celsius degree.

本实验采用彩色塑料碗制作盘式诱捕器（pan trap），选用蓝、黄、白三种颜色的塑料碗。实验设置于乔木林地与草本草地两类生境中，每类生境均放置9个塑料碗，颜色按蓝-黄-白交替排布，且相邻碗间距为3米。每个碗内盛有半盆肥皂水，以防止捕获的昆虫从盘式诱捕器中逃逸。一小时后，研究人员返回实验样地，统计每个碗内捕获的昆虫总数，随后倒出肥皂水并将捕获的昆虫全部释放。实验人员先对每个碗内的昆虫物种数进行鉴定，随后在实验室阶段完成所有捕获昆虫的物种定名工作。本次实验的两类生境均设于约克大学（York University）基尔校区（Keele campus）内。实验于2014年9月29日15:00至16:00开展，当日天气晴朗无云，气温约为24摄氏度。
