In the present study, we have been applying the Illumina paired-end sequencing technology to define the transcriptome of saffron stigma, distinguish the genes involved in biosynthesis of important metabolites of saffron and identify simple sequence repeat (SSR) sequence sites in the genome of Crocus sativus L. population for developing genetic markers to be used in future genotyping, identification, and genetic tracking studies. To the best of our knowledge, this study is the first research to delineate the transcriptome of saffron through the analysis of large-scale transcript sequences obtained from Illumina paired-end sequencing.

本研究采用Illumina双端测序技术,对藏红花柱头的转录组进行解析,鉴定参与藏红花重要代谢物生物合成的相关基因,并在番红花(Crocus sativus L.)种群的基因组中鉴定简单序列重复(simple sequence repeat, SSR)位点,以开发可用于后续基因分型、物种鉴定及遗传追踪研究的遗传标记。据我们所知,本研究是首次通过分析Illumina双端测序获得的大规模转录序列来解析藏红花转录组的研究。
