This dataset is derived from a study focusing on the relationship between nest site selection and offspring dispersal ability in female common snapping turtles (Chelydra serpentina). We released hatchling turtles at different distances and monitored their terrestrial dispersal and survival status. Analyses were performed to examine the effects of dispersal distance and hatchling body size on survival rate, as well as the association between maternal nest site selection and offspring phenotypes, providing data support for understanding maternal investment strategies.
