This dataset compiles statistical data sourced from the 2003 China Forestry Development Report. It includes two main sections of records:
1. Annual statistics of completed afforestation area under key national forestry projects during 1979-2002, covering the following fields: year identifier, total afforestation area, Natural Forest Protection Project, total area of the Grain for Green Project (with a breakdown of converted cropland afforestation area), subtotal of key shelterbelt system construction projects including the Three-North Shelterbelt Program and Yangtze River Basin shelterbelt programs, individual sub-projects such as the Three-North Shelterbelt Program, Upper and Middle Reaches of the Yangtze River Shelterbelt Program, Coastal Shelterbelt Program, Pearl River Basin Shelterbelt Program, Taihang Mountain Afforestation Project, Plain Afforestation Project, Beijing-Tianjin Sandstorm Source Control Project, Fast-growing and High-yield Timber Forest Base Construction Project, and serial number.
2. Statistical data reflecting the development status of China's forestry industry in 2002 across multiple dimensions including forestry production, afforestation operations, forest products trade, forest pest and rodent control, key project investment, and forest resource conditions. The specific contents are as follows: import and export values of major forest products during 1993-1999, import and export quantities of major forest products during 1993-1999, regional afforestation area classified by afforestation method and forest category in 1999, total output value of regional forestry industry in 1999, actual completed investment of key forestry projects by region in 1999, completed afforestation area of key forestry projects by region in 1999, and regional forest pest, rodent and disease control status in 1999.
