This invention provides a modified activated carbon, its preparation method, and a supercapacitor, falling within the technical field of activated carbon. The preparation method of the modified activated carbon includes: blending and impregnating bamboo particles with phenolic resin, followed by curing, carbonization and activation in sequence. The modified activated carbon is prepared via the aforementioned preparation method. A supercapacitor uses the aforementioned modified activated carbon as a raw material. The preparation method of the modified activated carbon provided herein uses bamboo particles as both the carbon source and template, and phenolic resin to improve the tap density of the activated carbon. During the preparation process, the effective dispersion of bamboo particles in the phenolic resin prevents volume shrinkage during the curing and carbonization stages of the phenolic resin, thereby increasing the specific surface area of the activated carbon. The modified activated carbon provided by the present application exhibits excellent gravimetric specific capacitance, low ash content, high specific surface area and high tap density. Supercapacitors prepared using the modified activated carbon provided herein as the raw material show improved performance.
