A Nationwide Dataset of Stable Isotopes in Meteoric and Terrestrial Water Across Peru

Water Stable Isotopes (δ¹⁸O and δ²H) are valuable tools for tracing sources and interactions in the water cycle, and also provide important information dedicated to understanding physical mechanisms related to global climate. Despite their significance, the topic of isotopic research in South America has been hindered by limited data. To address this gap, we launched a groundbreaking national-level water stable isotope dataset covering different water sources in Peru. The dataset contains in-house data and can be linked to previously published datasets. The dataset covers 493 water collection sites and provides isotopic information from 2000 to 2021. The dataset is implemented with a standardized metadata template, containing essential information such as sample type (e.g. groundwater, precipitation, river, spring, and others), sampling frequency (e.g. biweekly, daily, monthly) from sea level to 5000 m a.s.l, coordinates, contact, references, and analytical precision about the collector points to allow a comprehensive use of the dataset. Additionally, the dataset is stored on Zenodo, and users can use the WSI-PeruDB Python package to visualize the data.稳定水同位素（δ¹⁸O和δ²H）是追踪水循环中水源及其相互作用的重要工具，同时可为理解与全球气候相关的物理机制提供关键信息。尽管其具有重要的科研价值，但南美洲的同位素研究却因数据匮乏而进展受限。为填补这一研究空白，我们构建了一套开创性的国家级稳定水同位素数据集，涵盖秘鲁境内的各类水源。该数据集包含本团队自主采集的实测数据，且可与已发表的相关数据集进行关联。本数据集涵盖493个水样采集点位，提供了2000年至2021年期间的同位素观测数据。数据集采用标准化元数据模板进行构建，包含样本类型（如地下水、降水、河水、泉水等）、采样频率（如双周、每日、每月）、点位海拔范围（从海平面至5000米海拔）、点位坐标、联系方式、参考文献以及采集点的分析精度等核心信息，可支持数据集的全方位应用。此外，本数据集已上传至Zenodo平台，用户可通过WSI-PeruDB Python工具包对数据进行可视化处理。
