Rb4C crystallizes in the tetragonal I4/mmm space group. The structure is one-dimensional and consists of two Rb4C ribbons oriented in the (0, 0, 1) direction. Rb1+ is bonded in a distorted L-shaped geometry to two equivalent C4- atoms. Both Rb–C bond lengths are 3.42 Å. C4- is bonded in a body-centered cubic geometry to eight equivalent Rb1+ atoms.
Rb₄C结晶于四方晶系I4/mmm空间群（space group）。该结构为一维结构，包含两条沿(0,0,1)方向排布的Rb₄C条带（ribbons）。位点1的铷阳离子（Rb1+）以畸变的L形配位几何与两个等价的碳阴离子（C4-）成键，两者的Rb–C键长均为3.42 Å。碳阴离子（C4-）以体心立方配位几何与八个等价的铷阳离子（Rb1+）成键。
