STORYTELLING, TRIAL, AND TRANSFORMATION: THE MENTOR ARCHETYPE IN CONTEMPORARY UZBEK AND ENGLISH CHILDREN'S FICTION

These theses compare Luqmon Bo’rixon’s novella Sirli muallim and Patrick Ness’s A Monster Calls in order to show that contemporary children’s prose, in cultures as distant as Uzbek and English, continues to perform spiritual education through one shared fairy-tale archetype: the enigmatic guide who imposes a trial and, through it, transforms the young protagonist’s inner life. The shared structure and its national variations are briefly characterised.本系列研究以卢克蒙·博里洪（Luqmon Bo’rixon）的中篇小说《Sirli muallim》与帕特里克·内斯（Patrick Ness）的《怪物来敲门》（A Monster Calls）为比较对象，旨在揭示：即便在乌兹别克与英语这两个相距甚远的文化语境中，当代儿童文学仍通过一类共通的童话原型开展精神教化——即设置试炼并借由该试炼重塑年轻主角内心世界的神秘引路人。 本研究同时简要阐释了这一共通叙事结构及其在不同文化下的民族化变体。
