Microbiota associated with burying beetles Nicrophorus vespilloides

This study characterizes the bacterial communities associated with burying beetles, Nicrophorus vespilloides. These beetles breed on small vertebrate cadavers. We wanted to understand how beetles change the bacterial communities in their breeding resource. We looked at bacterial communities in cadavers of mice, in the presence and absence of beetles, and in the beetles' guts and exudates.
