Supporting data for "Effectiveness of xylitol toothpaste in preventing dental caries among young children"

The study was a two-year double-blind randomised clinical trial. A total of 579 caregiver-child dyads were randomised to test group (children used xylitol toothpaste) and control group (children used fluoride toothpaste) with toothbrushing twice daily for two years. The effectiveness of xylitol toothpaste or fluoride toothpaste in preventing early childhood caries was evaluated and compared.

本研究为一项为期两年的双盲随机对照临床试验。共计纳入579组照护者-儿童对，将其随机分为试验组与对照组：试验组儿童使用木糖醇牙膏（xylitol toothpaste），对照组儿童使用含氟牙膏（fluoride toothpaste），两组均每日刷牙两次，试验周期共计两年。本研究评估并对比了木糖醇牙膏与含氟牙膏在预防儿童早期龋病（early childhood caries）中的有效性。
