Field training with plants at York University

In this lab experiment, the data was collected on Friday September 26, 2014 on Keele campus of York University between 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm. The temperature was about 20ᵒC and it was sunny. 10 randomly selected adult trees of the same species were selected in the woodlot to gather data. The diameter at the breast height was measured in cm for both the adult trees and their nearest saplings using transect measuring tape. In addition , the distance between the adult trees and the sapling trees was also measured in cm . The canopy coverage of the adult trees was estimated by making a square through fingers and pointing it towards the branches.本实验室实验的数据采集于2014年9月26日周五，采集地点为约克大学（York University）基尔校区（Keele campus），时段为当日下午2:30至5:30。当日气温约为20摄氏度，天气晴朗。研究人员在该林地内随机选取10株同品种成年乔木开展数据采集工作，使用样带卷尺（transect measuring tape）分别测量这些成年乔木及其邻近幼树的胸径（diameter at breast height），测量单位为厘米。此外，还测定了成年乔木与对应幼树之间的距离，单位亦为厘米。成年乔木的冠层覆盖度则通过以手指搭建正方形框架并对准树冠枝条的方式进行估算。
