The primary goal of the study was to understand the evolution of anisogamy from isogamy in the early diverging fungal clade, Allomyces. Transcriptomes were sequenced from Allomyces isolates representing either isogamous or anisogamous mating systems. Predominantly male and predominantly female samples from two of the anisogamous isolates were also sequenced to understand sex-biased gene expression. Raw reads are provided for seven samples including two sex-biased samples for each of the two anisogamous strains and one sample each for the remaining three isolates.
本研究的核心目标为解析早期分化真菌支系异水霉属(Allomyces)中,从同型配子生殖(isogamy)向异型配子生殖(anisogamy)的演化历程。研究团队对分别代表同型配子生殖与异型配子生殖交配系统的异水霉属分离株进行了转录组(transcriptome)测序。此外,为探究性别偏向性基因表达(sex-biased gene expression),我们还对两株异型配子生殖分离株的偏雄性、偏雌性样本开展了测序。本次数据集共提供7个样本的原始测序读段(raw reads),其中两株异型配子生殖菌株各包含2个性别偏向性样本,剩余3株分离株各对应1个样本。
