Liquidambar orientalis chorology

Distribution map of oriental sweetgum (<i>Liquidambar orientalis</i>)<br><br>These maps were produced by combining numerous and heterogeneous data collected from atlas monographs providing complete species distribution maps, from national to regional atlases, occurrence geo-databases, scientific and grey literature.<br>The maps were created using ESRI shapefiles (*.shp, *.shx, *.dbf, *.prj files) archived in the ZIP file. Species range is mapped with polygon features (name suffix "plg"), which define continuous areas of occupancy of the species, and with point features (name suffix "pnt"), which identify more fragmented and isolated populations. If synanthropic occurrences are reported outside the species natural range, additional point and/or polygon shapefiles are also present (suffix "syn").<br>Polygon borders delimiting species ranges are generalized across the mainland and sea boundaries. This offers the possibility to mask sea areas or to clip and extract the terrestrial range parts using GIS data layers of the users' choice. An additional version of polygon ranges are clipped with a coastline (name suffix "clip"), which have been derived from Natural Earth dataset "Admin 0 - Countries" 1:50M version 4.1.0 (https://www.naturalearthdata.com).<br><br>Please cite as:<br>Caudullo, G., Welk, E., San-Miguel-Ayanz, J., 2017. 东方枫香（Liquidambar orientalis）分布地图集

本套地图通过整合多源异质数据制作而成，数据来源涵盖提供完整物种分布地图的专题图集、国家级至区域级地图集、物种出现点地理数据库，以及科学文献与灰色文献。

本套地图采用存档于ZIP压缩包中的ESRI形状文件（shapefiles，*.shp、*.shx、*.dbf、*.prj文件）制作。物种分布范围通过两类要素进行制图：一是面要素（文件名后缀“plg”），用于表征物种的连续栖息区域；二是点要素（文件名后缀“pnt”），用于标识更为破碎且孤立的种群。若存在该物种在自然分布区外的人为伴生（synanthropic）出现记录，则会附带额外的点要素和/或面要素形状文件（后缀为“syn”）。

划定物种分布范围的面要素边界已针对陆地与海洋边界进行了概化处理，使用者可根据需求利用地理信息系统（GIS）数据图层对海洋区域进行掩膜，或裁剪提取其中的陆地分布范围。此外还提供了经海岸线裁剪的面要素范围版本（文件名后缀“clip”），该版本的数据源自Natural Earth数据集（Natural Earth dataset）“Admin 0 - Countries”1:50M 4.1.0版（https://www.naturalearthdata.com）。
