Sandy beach macroinvertebrates of the Yucatán coast, Mexico

This dataset includes the mean abundance of macroinvertebrates of six coastal localities from the Yucatán coast: El Cuyo (21°31'N - 87°40'W), Dzilam (21°23'N - 88°54'W), Telchac (21°20'N - 89°17'W), Progreso (21°17'N - 89°39'W), Sisal (20°10'N - 90°01'W), and Celestún (20°51'N - 90°24'W) surveyed during November 2020, April 2021, and August 2021. At each locality, four sampling sites were selected.

The macrobenthic fauna was collected with a core of 22 cm in diameter, which was inserted between 20 and 25 cm inside the sediment. Six replicated samples in the intertidal and six in the lower supralittoral zones were collected at each beach site. Each sample was sieved using a 0.5 mm mesh and stored in plastic bags with 4% saline formalin. In the laboratory, organisms were separated and classified to the lowest taxonomic level or morphospecies.

大型底栖动物群落采用直径22 cm的柱状采泥器采集，将采泥器插入沉积物内20~25 cm深度。每个海滩取样位点分别在潮间带与下潮上带区域各采集6份重复样本。每份样本经孔径0.5 mm的筛网筛分后，装入盛有4%生理盐水福尔马林溶液的塑料袋中保存。实验室阶段，研究人员将样本中的生物个体分离并鉴定至最低分类阶元或形态种。
