A cabinet studio portrait of a middle-aged woman, Blanchard's Galeria de la Plaza, Los Angeles, California, USA, circa 1890s. The woman, probably in her fifties and appearing to be Latino (which would correspond with the demographics of the studio's location at 513 North Main, where the Pico House, Merced Theater, and Masonic Lodge still stand at the Plaza), is seen from the upper torso up. She wears a dark-colored dress with a velvet collar and lapes and has a crucifix and other religious jewelry as well as a brooch at her neck and front. Her hair is tightly pulled back and parted just to the left of the middle. With staining from an envelope flap on the reverse, other small stains, including on te photo, and minimal rubbing, the condition is good overall.
