We collected transcriptome data from the same individual of the cold water coral species, Lophelia pertusa, collected in the Gulf of Mexico. The first sample (Treatment A) was taken at the time the individual came on deck of the ship. After the coral was acclimated in a tank on deck for ~4 days, a second sample (Treatment B) was taken. The third sample was taken after the coral was exposed to 22 degree Celsius water for ~ one hour (Treatment C). We exposed the coral to these conditions in order to capture a comprehensive transcriptome of an adult coral. This information will aid in future development of biomarkers for genes involved in stress response.

我们从墨西哥湾采集的冷水珊瑚物种多枝笠珊瑚(Lophelia pertusa)的同一个体中获取了转录组(transcriptome)数据。第一个样本(处理组A)采集于该个体被转移至船面甲板的时刻。待该珊瑚在甲板水槽中驯化约4天后,采集第二个样本(处理组B);待其暴露于22摄氏度水体中约1小时后,采集第三个样本(处理组C)。本研究设置上述处理条件,旨在获取成年珊瑚的全面转录组数据,该数据集将助力未来针对应激反应相关基因的生物标志物开发工作。
