This study aimed to analyze the epidemiological features and disease burden of trauma patients in Xuzhou City according to the inpatient data of trauma patients in three tertiary hospitals from 2019 to 2023. A retrospective analysis of inpatient data for trauma patients in Xuzhou City between January 2019 and December 2023 was conducted to identify epidemiological trends. A total of 74,070 trauma patients were included. The population was predominantly working-age males (57.90% male, with the 50–59 age group being the largest cohort at 24.10%). The primary causes of trauma were falls (41.30%), road traffic (29.60%), and mechanical injuries (18.50%), with traffic-related incidents accounting for the highest proportion of fatalities (55.7% of deaths). The mean hospital stay was 8.42 days (95% CI: 8.37–8.48). The inpatient mortality was 1.63% (n = 1208). A synergic impact of occupational exposure, mixed-traffic issues, and a rapidly aging population appears to be the most critical source of trauma burden in industrial cities like Xuzhou. These findings indicate the need for interventions aimed specifically at heightened occupational security, enhanced traffic management, and targeted prevention of falls among the elderly. In Xuzhou City, trauma primarily affects working-age males, with falls, road traffic incidents, and mechanical injuries being the most common causes. Road traffic incidents are the leading cause of trauma-related mortality, accounting for over half of all inpatient deaths. The trauma burden in industrial cities like Xuzhou necessitates targeted interventions focusing on occupational security, enhanced traffic management, and fall prevention for the aging population.
