THE CONTRIBUTION OF THE OLYMPIC GAMES TO BEIJING'S LEGACY

ABSTRACT The Olympic Games allow for rapid urban transformations in the host city due to the significant investments available from public and private sources. In addition to plans for the event, some host cities also propose planning guidelines in order to redirect their urban dynamics. Beijing was the city that invested the most in infrastructure, in order to reduce the monocentric growth process. The general objective was to verify if the physical configuration of the city changed with the master plan carried out for the event. Due to the difficulty in obtaining official data, an indirect methodological analysis was proposed by verifying temporal alterations in constructed housing density. Despite the enduring strong attractiveness of the historic center, it was possible to perceive the consolidation of the centralities to the east, in accordance with the plan.

摘要：奥运会凭借公共与私人部门的巨额投资，可推动主办城市实现快速的城市转型。除针对赛事本身的规划外，部分主办城市还会出台规划导则，以引导城市发展动态的优化调整。北京是所有主办城市中基础设施投入规模最高的城市，其初衷为扭转城市单中心增长的发展模式。本研究的总体目标是验证，为该届赛事制定的城市总体规划是否改变了城市的物理空间形态。鉴于官方数据获取存在难度，研究提出了一种间接方法论分析框架，通过考察建成住宅密度的时序性变化开展验证。尽管历史中心城区始终保有强劲的吸引力，但仍可观测到城市中心向东部的集聚态势按照规划方案得到了强化。
