The association of endosalpingiosis with malignancy

Endosalpingiosis is a poorly understood condition of ectopic epithelium resembling the fallopian tubes. It has been described as an incidental pathology finding, a disease similar to endometriosis, and in association with malignancy. We performed a retrospective analysis of 967 patients with endosalpingiosis (n=515) and endometriosis (n=452) over the span of 20 years at 3 affiliated academic hospitals to determine if there was an association with malignancy. The findings of our study was published in August 2022, and we have included the raw datasets here in order to share our data. The results of our data demonstrated that endosalpingiosis was found concurrently with malignancy in 40% of cases, and this effect was preserved in multi-variable and sub-group analyses.

输卵管内膜异位症（Endosalpingiosis）是一种病因尚不明确的异位上皮病变，其组织学特征与输卵管上皮相似。该病症曾被报道为偶发性病理发现，是一类与子宫内膜异位症（endometriosis）相似的疾病，且可与恶性肿瘤存在关联。本研究对3所附属教学医院20年间收治的967名患者开展回顾性分析，其中输卵管内膜异位症患者515例、子宫内膜异位症患者452例，旨在明确该病症与恶性肿瘤的相关性。本研究成果已于2022年8月发表，本文同步附上原始数据集以共享研究数据。数据分析结果显示，40%的输卵管内膜异位症患者同时合并恶性肿瘤，且该相关性在多变量分析及亚组分析中均保持稳定。
