This research evaluated the in vitro activities of nine antifungal drugs and their combinations against neurotropic melanized fungi associated with cerebral phaeohyphomycosis. To our knowledge, this is the first study to assess the in vitro activities of 13 double and five triple antifungal combinations against three common causative agents of fungal brain abscess in humans. We developed and standardized a simple and cost-effective method of testing double and triple combinations of antifungal agents, using a modified version of checkerboard assay. This dataset shows the drug dilution scheme and final microplate configurations for antifungal combinations in two- and three-dimensional checkerboard assays.
