卫矛科卫矛属落叶藤状灌木或小乔木。高可达8m，胸径达90㎝以上。叶片卵状披针形或卵状椭圆形。花序叶腋有花2～3朵，小。果球形，有4棱；种子红色。果期10～12月。 喜温暖，喜光，耐干热瘠薄。喜马拉雅特有植物。产西藏东南部，生于海拔 3 000～3 300 m的河谷林缘灌丛。锡金也产。本种果实开裂，种子红色，入冬落叶后满枝缀红，十分可爱。
This species is a deciduous vine-like shrub or small tree belonging to the genus Euonymus, family Celastraceae. It grows up to 8 m in height, with trunk diameter exceeding 90 cm. Its leaves are ovate-lanceolate or ovate-elliptic. The axillary inflorescences bear 2-3 small flowers. The fruits are globose and 4-angled, containing red seeds. Its fruiting period spans from October to December. It favors warm climates, is light-demanding, and tolerates drought, heat and infertile soils. It is a Himalayan endemic, distributed in southeastern Tibet, growing in valley forest-edge thickets at an altitude of 3000–3300 m, and also occurs in Sikkim. This species has dehiscent fruits and red seeds; after leaf fall in winter, the branches are covered with abundant bright red fruits, which are quite charming.
