This dataset provides detailed insights into the thermal performance of more than 4,400 UK households, measured through Heat Transfer Coefficient (HTC) values — a key indicator of how efficiently a property retains heat.
Each record includes:
1. user_id: Unique anonymised household identifier.
2. Htc: Measured Heat Transfer Coefficient value representing total heat loss through the building envelope.
3. NormalisedHtc: HTC value normalised against total floor area (HTC / total floor area), allowing fair comparison between properties of different sizes.
4. HTC Banding: Performance classification — Excellent, Good, Needs Improvement, Bad, or Very Bad.
These metrics provide valuable insights into the energy efficiency of homes and their thermal characteristics, supporting applications in:
- Energy efficiency benchmarking and property performance comparisons
- Retrofit targeting and building fabric improvement studies
