Perishable: Willow Ring AZRU8-2774

Willow Ring, Accession AZRU-00008, Catalog #2774. Morris FS 5524. Analyzed by Laurie Webster, 2006. Small oval willow ring with remains of yucca network worked in narrow strips of broadleaf yucca. One strip knotted to rim with square knot. Measurements: L 18.5, W 14.0 CM. Image: AZRU8-2774 A: oval ring with remains of yucca network. Recovered from Earl Morris' excavation of Room193, Aztec West Ruin. For Room 193 Morris described typical architectural features and “refuse that had been deposited on the second floor, including fragments of a considerable number of very fine medium-sized water jars and mugs that were shattered, possibly intentionally, judging from their number and the fact that they were practically new and of the same potter. Another atypical Chaco water jar had the entire surface completely hidden by a coat of lacquer bearing an elaborate design in yellow, red, and black” (Morris 1928:362).

该器物为小型椭圆形柳编环，残留有以阔叶丝兰（yucca）窄条编织而成的丝兰网结构，其中一条窄条以方结（square knot）系于环缘。尺寸：长18.5厘米，宽14.0厘米。图片编号AZRU8-2774 A：带有丝兰网残留的椭圆形环。该标本出土自厄尔·莫里斯（Earl Morris）主持的阿兹特克西遗址（Aztec West Ruin）193号房间发掘工作。
莫里斯在报告中描述了193号房间的典型建筑特征，以及“二层堆积的废弃物，其中包含大量相当精美的中型储水罐和杯盏残片，这些器物破碎程度极高——从其数量、近乎全新的状态以及出自同一制陶工匠之手的特征来看，极有可能是人为刻意击碎。另有一件非典型的查科（Chaco）风格储水罐，器表通体被一层漆料覆盖，其上饰有黄、红、黑三色的繁复纹样”（莫里斯，1928：362）。
