VPRS 11233 Card Register of General Correspondence Files, Multiple Number System

This record series is a register of VPRS 11008 General Correspondence Files, Multiple Number System. It was maintained during the years 1982 to 1986.The Register is in card format. The majority of cards are blue but a few are pink in colour. The pink cards refer to files relating to personnel and salaries and wages matters. The different colouring indicated confidentiality or restricted access conditions.The Register contains the following information:- primary and secondary numbers- subject name- file title- file number- (sometimes) comments re matters such as file classification or confidentiality.Cards within each primary classification (e.g. P40, P50, P70) are separated by green cards. Prior to those cards with T classifications there is a sequence of white cards described as Temporary Files Index. Most of the white cards refer to A9 - Administration and Management files.Boxes were labelled on the outside as follows:* Unit 1 A5-1 - D20* Unit 2 D20 - L10-8* Unit 3 L10-9 - O50-L11* Unit 4 O50-M2 - P40-395* Unit 5 P40 - S60* Unit 6 S70 - W50* Unit 7 W60-0200 - W60-7600.Not all of the files controlled by this register are still extant. Some culling of the General Correspondence Files, Multiple Number System has taken place.
