ALS-resistant sorghums (Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench) were developed as a practical post-emergence weed control solution in sorghum. However, several ALS-resistant lines exhibit noticeable interveinal chlorosis in the early stages, leading to reduced vigor. Despite these lines eventually recovering and greening up at an advanced seedling stage, growers might hesitate to adopt ALS-resistant sorghums due to this atypical seedling phenotype. The goal was to identify plant mechanisms related to this unusual phenotype and to establish a foundation for addressing this issue. Two ALS-resistant genotypes, one displaying a yellow phenotype and the other a normal phenotype were cultivated, and tissue samples were collected at four time in-tervals, with the final sampling occurring after the genotypes had re-greened. RNA was extracted from these tissue samples and subjected to RNA-seq analysis.
