iconic building and the real estate markets in Natal, Brazil

AbstractThis paper seeks to analyze old and new features regarding real estate markets in Natal, Brazil. The old features refer to the location of real estate investments in the city. The new features refer to how new iconic buildings affect real estate markets. Thus, the paper starts with a discussion about Charles Jenks definition of ‘iconic building’ and an overview of papers about urban development in Natal. Based on research which produced interviews with real estate entrepreneurs, the paper’s main objective is to contribute towards the study of the contemporary city.

摘要 本研究旨在剖析巴西纳塔尔市房地产市场的新旧特征。其中，传统特征指该市房地产投资的区位布局，新兴特征则聚焦于新型地标建筑（iconic building）对房地产市场的影响。据此，本研究首先围绕查尔斯·詹克斯（Charles Jenks）对地标建筑的定义展开探讨，并梳理纳塔尔市城市发展相关研究文献。本研究基于对房地产企业家的访谈调研，核心目标是为当代城市研究贡献学术助力。
