A dataset of urban impervious surface of Hainan Island, based on Sentinel-1 SAR and Sentinel-2A optical images

Urban impervious surface is an important indicator of urbanization. It is also an important indicator to measure the health of urban ecosystems. In the context of global urbanization, impervious surface extraction has become a hotspot of scholarly attention. This dataset is derived from a fast large-area impervious surface extraction method based on a combined use of optical and SAR data. This dataset has a spatial coverage of 18°10′N–20°10′N, 108°37′E–111°03′E, and a time span of the year 2015. 10,000 randomly selected validation points were utilized to assess the accuracy of this dataset. The overall accuracy (OA) and Kappa coefficients were 90.71% and 0.81, respectively. Additionally, our dataset was compared with existing mainstream land cover products (i.e. GlobalLand30 (30 m), Liu’s products and GHS). Results show that our products have a higher extraction accuracy and are more refined in exhibiting internal structures of human settlements.
城市不透水面(Urban impervious surface)是衡量城市化水平的重要指标,同时也是评估城市生态系统健康状况的关键指标。在全球城市化的大背景下,不透水面提取已成为学术界关注的热点研究方向。本数据集源自一种结合光学与合成孔径雷达(SAR)数据的快速大区域不透水面提取方法。该数据集的空间覆盖范围为18°10′N至20°10′N、108°37′E至111°03′E,时间跨度为2015年。本研究选取10000个随机验证点对该数据集的精度开展评估,其总体精度(Overall Accuracy, OA)与Kappa系数分别为90.71%与0.81。此外,本数据集与现有主流土地覆盖产品(即GlobalLand30(30 m)、Liu的产品以及GHS)进行了对比分析,结果表明本数据集具备更高的提取精度,且能更精细地刻画人类聚居区的内部结构特征。
