Sales orders of our company are collected via the Xiaobangbang CRM trading platform. These orders are categorized by their corresponding provinces and cities, so as to calculate the monthly sales amount for each city, and then compute the variance of the 12-month sales amounts. The variance value is used to evaluate the sales performance of each city, thereby supporting the assessment of production and sales strategies for all enterprises. All enterprises can leverage this data to gain insights into the sales trends of seat belt sensors across different provinces and cities, so as to balance the production and sales volumes of seat belt sensors.
Step 1: Collect sales orders of our company via the Xiaobangbang CRM trading platform, categorize the orders by province and city, and denote the monthly sales amounts to different provinces and cities in each year from January to December as x₁, x₂, ..., x₁₂ sequentially. Then summarize and calculate the total annual sales amount x for each city.
Step 2: Calculate the monthly average sales amount $ar{x}$ for each city as $ar{x} = x / 12$, where x is the total annual sales amount of the city.
Step 3: Calculate the variance $s^2 = frac{(x_1-ar{x})^2 + (x_2-ar{x})^2 + (x_3-ar{x})^2 + dots + (x_{12}-ar{x})^2}{12}$ to obtain the variance $s^2$ of the monthly sales amounts for each city.
Step 4: Classify cities into three categories based on the variance value:
1. Ultra-stable sales cities: Cities with $s^2 < 0.03$. For these cities, enterprises do not need to monitor their sales trends in real time, and can maintain consistent production and sales volumes of seat belt sensors each month.
2. Generally stable sales cities: Cities with $0.03 leq s^2 leq 0.08$. For these cities, enterprises need to monitor their sales trends every quarter and make appropriate adjustments to the production and sales volumes of seat belt sensors.
3. Volatile sales cities: Cities with $s^2 > 0.08$. For these cities, enterprises need to monitor their sales trends in real time every month to understand changes in sales performance, so as to make large-scale adjustments to the production and sales volumes of seat belt sensors.
