Blastocystis hominis ST8 strain AMC Genome sequencing

Blastocystis sp. is a cosmopolitan anaerobic protozoan parasite considered to be emerging. Blastocystis ST8 is one of the subtypes found in humans. We assembled and annotated a new genome of Blastocystis ST8 strain AMC from axenic culture to contribute to the genomic data available for Blastocystis species, particularly regarding the parasite's pathogenic potential.

芽囊原虫属物种（Blastocystis sp.）是一类世界性分布的厌氧原生动物寄生虫，被视为新兴病原寄生虫。芽囊原虫ST8是在人体中检出的亚型之一。本研究对无菌纯培养的芽囊原虫ST8菌株AMC进行基因组组装与注释，获得了一套全新的基因组序列，旨在丰富芽囊原虫属物种的可用基因组数据资源，尤其为该寄生虫的致病潜力相关研究提供支撑。
