Availability of copper ion is crucial for various biological functions. In Streptomyces, a gram-positive soil-dwelling filamentous bacteria, presence of a few micro-molar of copper ion stimulates various phenotypic expression including cell morphogenesis and secondary metabolite production. This project aims at identifying Streptomyces genes whose expression is controlled in a copper-dependent manner.
