资源简介:
We present a global reconstruction of carbonate-weathering carbon sinks (CWCS) from 1850 to 2014 and projections to 2100, coupling a high-resolution carbonate weathering model with CMIP6 simulations and formal detection–attribution (DAMIP). By partitioning forcing-specific contributions (GHG, aerosols, LUCC, natural variability), we show that greenhouse-gas forcing dominates the multi-decadal increase in the maximum dissolution rate (Dmax) and associated bicarbonate fluxes. Mechanistically, CWCS growth is bounded by dual ceilings—hydrologic transport and chemical saturation—exhibiting clear latitudinal contrasts in the approach-to-limit runoff (R_sat). Under future scenarios (e.g., SSP245/SSP585), warming-induced hydrologic intensification sustains CWCS gains until regional ceilings are approached later this century. The dataset and materials include the manuscript text, figure assets (including CWCS–R response and timing analyses), and reproducible code snippets used for resampling, bias-correction, trend estimation, and attribution. Together, these resources provide a conservative baseline for the natural-domain carbonate sink and a framework to separate drivers, quantify limits, and evaluate management-relevant sensitivity to climate forcing.
