Eighteen naturally strongylus-infected Priangan rams (120 ± 31.8 eggs/g faeces, mean ± SE) were assigned into a completely randomized design to compare 3 different <i>as fed</i> doses of papaya peel silage (PPS) inclusions at 0 (PPS-0), 50% (PPS-50) and 75% (PPS-75) in paddy straw silage (PSS) based diet on ram performances before and after an anthelmintic treatment using 6 replicates. During endoparasite infection in rams, dietary PPS-50 (340 ± 129 eggs/g faeces) and PPS-75 (225 ± 44.5 eggs/g faeces) could keep faecal egg counts <i>Strongylus sp.</i> in mild infection category (< 500 eggs/g faeces) compared with dietary PPS-0 (565 ± 238 eggs/g faeces). After anthelmintic treatment, dietary PPS-75 increased (P < 0.05) average daily gain (g/head/day) of sheep from dietary PPS-0 (control). <i>As fed</i> dietary PPS up to 75% to replace PSS has an anthelmintic potential and it can increase performance of sheep after being treated by an anthelmintic.
