The Points for Energy Renovation (PointER) dataset was created by a collaborative research team from the Technical University of Munich and Stanford University. It encompasses over one million point cloud datasets of buildings located across England. By integrating georeferenced LiDAR data and the UK Energy Performance Database, this dataset offers three-dimensional representations of buildings along with their energy performance characteristics. The dataset covers various urban and rural areas in England, with approximately half of the included buildings linked to energy performance attributes. The development of PointER utilizes open-source code for generating building point clouds, and it can be conveniently extended to other research fields by incorporating additional building-related features. Primarily applied in building energy modeling, this dataset is designed to tackle challenges in building energy efficiency assessment, thereby supporting the building renovation objectives outlined in the European Green Deal.
