Dataset of an anatomical investigation of the confluence of the sinuses using a cadaveric and imaging sample. The drainage pattern types of the confluences of the sinus were catalogued in a whole-body donor sample (n= 52) and magnetic resonance venography imaging sample (n=70). Measurements were taken at the inflow of the superior sagittal sinus into the confluence of the sinuses and the right and left outflow of the transverse sinuses. The most prevalent drainage pattern evident was the superior sagittal sinus draining to the right transverse sinus, within the dura mater (42.31%) and on the bony impressions (36.54%) of the body donor sample and the imaging sample (44.29%). The most prevalent dominance type in the dura mater and bony impression measurements was symmetry (59.62% and 69.23% respectively) and right dominance in the imaging sample (27.14%).
