This repository contains Excel data files (including .csv files) and R Mardown files related to the manuscript entitled "Stretch versus shortening contractions subsequently decrease versus increase neural drive to the human tibialis anterior". Here are some important abbreviations in the .csv files: pid = unique ID assigned to each participant [random effect] – note: P07 does not exist decomp = 1 or 2 (decomposition method [fixed effect]: 1=DEMUSE; 2=MUedit) intensity = 1 or 2 (contraction intensity [fixed effect]: 1=20% MVT; 2=40% MVT) condition = 1, 2, or 3 (contraction condition [fixed effect]: 1=REF; 2=STRhold; 3=SHOhold) muid = unique ID assigned to each motor unit (the total number of motor units [random effect] varies considerably between participants and contraction intensities, but the number is identical among contraction conditions) outcome (e.g., motorUnitResultsUpdate_Raiteri.csv) = median discharge rate of each motor unit during a time-matched steady-state hold phase (units are in Hz [no. of discharges per second])
