There is growing interest in the use of unconventional feed ingredients containing higher dietary fibre for pig production due toincreasing prices of cereal grains and the potential health benefits of dietary fibre on host animals. This study aimed to gaininsight into the community-wide microbiome population between the Chinese native Lantang pigs and the commercial Duroc pigsto uncover the microbiological mechanisms for the degradation capacity of fibre in pigs.

鉴于谷物籽粒价格持续攀升，且日粮纤维（dietary fibre）对宿主动物（host animals）存在潜在健康益处，养猪生产中应用高日粮纤维非常规饲料原料（unconventional feed ingredients）的关注度与日俱增。本研究旨在解析中国地方品种蓝塘猪（Lantang pigs）与商品代杜洛克猪（Duroc pigs）的全群落微生物组种群差异，以阐明生猪纤维降解能力的微生物学机制。
