Ecology 2050 Grassland Dataset 2

The experiment was conducted at York University on September 26th, 2014 in grasslands adjacent to Danby Woods. The purpose of this experiment was to become comfortable with plant sampling methods used in Ecology studies. Using a trasect tape (30m), the distance between thistle plants was recorded, to within 1m on either side of the tape. The height of the plant, number of leaves, number of flowers, and level of crowding were also recorded for a sample size of n = 50. When there were no other plants found along the transect tape, the tape was relocated to a different area. This data was collected in collaboration with other researchers Elron, Simmy, and Laiba.

本实验于2014年9月26日在约克大学（York University）丹比林地（Danby Woods）毗邻的草原区域展开。本次实验的目的在于熟练掌握生态学研究中常用的植物采样方法。实验采用30米长的样带卷尺（transect tape），记录蓟类植物与样带两侧1米范围内的间距；同时针对样本量n=50的植株，记录其株高、叶片数、花朵数及拥挤程度。若样带沿线未发现其他植物，则将样带迁移至其他区域继续采样。本数据集由埃尔隆（Elron）、西米（Simmy）与莱巴（Laiba）三位研究人员合作采集所得。
