The Capitol Reef Project consists of sites from systematic transect and judgmental blocks placed throughout Capitol Reef National Park, Utah, and is part of the larger National Park Service's Systemwide Archaeological Inventory Program (SAIP). Pollen, flotation, charcoal, and/or corn cob samples were examined from 55 sites. These sites represent mostly Fremont cultures, but also include some Archaic, Formative, Late Prehistoric, and Historic. Pollen and macrofloral analysis will aid in identifying plant resources available to and utilized by the various occupants of these sites, as well as provide prehistoric environmental data. Several charcoal samples and corn cobs were identified or measured, then submitted for radiocarbon analysis.
