IMOS SOOP-XBT Upper Ocean Thermal Data collected on the line PX6 (Suva, Fiji- Auckland, New Zealand)

This dataset contains temperature data obtained from XBTs (expendable bathythermographs) deployed by vessels during different cruises between Suva (Fiji) and Auckland (New Zealand).\n\nExpendable Bathythermographs (XBTs) have been used for many years by oceanographers to measure the temperature of the upper ocean. These instruments are simple devices which are designed to be deployed from moving vessels, enabling broad scale coverage of the world's oceans.

本数据集收录了船舶在斐济苏瓦与新西兰奥克兰之间的多次科考航次中投放的投弃式温深计（expendable bathythermographs，XBT）所获取的温度数据。

长期以来，海洋学家便依托投弃式温深计开展上层海洋温度测量工作。该类仪器结构简便，专为移动船舶投放场景设计，可实现全球海洋的大范围观测覆盖。
