First Draft genome for Pagrus major

The red sea bream (<i>Pagrus major</i>) belongs to the family of <i>Sparidea</i>, which includes 35 genera, 132 species and 10 subspecies. <i>Pagrus major</i> genome size was estimated as ~806 Mb using the <i>k-mer</i> method from 190.3 Gb of raw short read sequences, which were generated from Illumina sequencer . Furthermore, 73 Gb of long read sequences which were generated from PacBio sequencing method were assemble into 1657 contigs with the total size of 829.3 Mb with N50 &gt; 2.8 MB.

真鲷（英文俗称red sea bream，学名<i>Pagrus major</i>）隶属于鲷科（Sparidea），该科共计35属、132个物种及10个亚种。研究人员依托Illumina测序仪产出的190.3 Gb原始短读长序列，采用k-mer分析法估算出真鲷的基因组大小约为806 Mb。此外，借助PacBio测序技术生成的73 Gb长读长序列被组装为1657个重叠群（contig），总组装长度达829.3 Mb，其N50值大于2.8 MB。
