Sequencing genomes of marine bacterial isolates with potential fucoidan-modifying activities

In this project, marine bacterial isolates extracted from gut of sea cucumbers, are screened for an ability to modify fucoidan preparations from Sargassum mcclueri and Turbinaria ornata. The genome sequencing is carried out to evaluate strains' potential for depolymerization of marine polysaccharides like alginate and fucoidan, and to facilitate discovery of novel variants of fucoidan-modifying enzymes.

本研究以从海参肠道中分离得到的海洋细菌分离株为研究材料，首先筛选其对麦克鲁尔马尾藻（Sargassum mcclueri）与华丽喇叭藻（Turbinaria ornata）来源褐藻糖胶（fucoidan）制剂的修饰能力。随后对候选菌株开展全基因组测序，以评估其对褐藻胶（alginate）、褐藻糖胶等海洋多糖的解聚潜能，并助力发现可修饰褐藻糖胶的新型酶变体。
